Challenge

Large window areas

Solar energy and its challenges

Advantage

  • bright rooms, natural daylight, wide view, appealing design

Disadvantage

  • high input of thermal energy, which often has to be reduced by energy-intensive air conditioning
  • Glare due to direct sunlight
  • Fading of furniture through UV radiation

Solution

  • innovative, visionary window concepts based on micro-optical, electrochromic film

Making better use of daylight

Global annual energy consumption and CO2 emissions of air conditioning systems:

> 2 Trillions> 800 Millions
kWh ElectricityTons of CO2

The heat input through windows and glass facades is a major contributor.

Nowadays, sun protection is often achieved by mechanical blinds on the inside and outside of windows. This is associated with many disadvantages, such as high costs, high maintenance, upkeep and cleaning effort, severely limited view and predominantly missing control technology.

Daylight, a valuable resource for well-being, is not used optimally.
